A waterproof, durable, and non-toxic material, vernum creates an effect that is almost sculpture-like. If that sounds overly stiff or formal, though, the word “hubane” is Estonian for “cozy.” Even though some of his fits look like they’re out of some dystopian horror flick. Today I am sharing some of the work of one of my favorite interior designers, Brooke Wagner Design. Lasting natural materials show off the warm side of new construction.

Janet quickly learned her own craft and practiced techniques to transform her now, loyal clientele. Brushed white oak floors, island pendant lights, and gilded fixtures infuse warmth into the space, while a white zellige backsplash (that extends to the hood) and a wood-paneled ceiling add texture. A pair of picture windows allow plenty of natural light to stream into the room, which has a SubZero fridge hidden in the cabinetry. House of the Dragon: who is Rhaenyra Targaryen?

house of the dragon rhaenyra

This doesn't sit well with Baela, who says Vhagar was hers to claim. When Rhaenyra's children arrive to lend a hand, a fight breaks out. Jacaerys reacts by bludgeoning Aemond with a jagged rock, and when it looks like Aemond is about to overpower him, Lucerys stabs his half-uncle, drawing a scar down the boy's face and ruining his left eye. Rhaenyra and Alicent’s relationship is the most compelling part of House of the Dragon and the most annoying. The series relies on these two women — the disintegration of their friendship directly precedes the war between their houses — but it also neglects them. The showrunners plowed through the first season at warp speed to set up a battle that, as of episode 9, is just getting underway, while deepening a new backstory in the process.

How long is Rhaenyra’s reign?

The season took us through the life of King Viserys Targaryen — yes, an ancestor of Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones. Max, formerly HBO Max, has confirmed that House of the Dragon’s second season will be released on June 16, 2024. As is typical for network shows, you’ll have to wait for each episode to air one week at a time. If you hate suspense and would rather binge the entire season, you’ll have to wait until August 4, which is when the final episode airs. Laena's funeral brings together Rhaenyra and Daemon for the first time in years. "Look what my life became without you." She longs to be desired again like she was by Harwin.

House of the Dragon: Who Kills Rhaenyra Targaryen?.

She's the first woman to sit on the Iron Throne

This will eventually unfold into a much larger battle, culminating in The Dance of the Dragons. The war will consume all of the Seven Kingdoms — major Westerosi houses will forge alliances with either Targaryen faction. Expect the return of houses like the Starks and Lannisters from Game of Thrones. "I may have lost an eye, but I gained a dragon." That's certainly one way to look at it, and he's not alone. His grandpa, Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans), who's been restored to Hand of the King following the death of Lyonel Strong, agrees.

Who Plays Rhaenyra Targaryen In House of the Dragon?

Daemon is dragged before Viserys, who accuses his brother of "defiling" and "ruining" his daughter. Around half the great houses, including the Starks and the Arryns, declared for Rhaenyra, and war broke out primarily in the Riverlands. The campaign was a brutal one, and Rhaenyra frequently took to the front on the back of Syrax. Rhaenyra and Daemon immediately sought the loyalty of the great houses, sending diplomats to all Seven Kingdoms. Lucerys was sent to Storm’s End to appeal to the House Baratheon, but Aemond was also there, and the two fought.

Otto moves to crown Aegon II king, and Alicent allows him to as long as they don’t kill Rhaenyra. Devastated by his loss, Viserys realizes his all-consuming drive for a male heir is what killed his beloved Aemma when Rhaenyra was already the perfect successor. Viserys makes the decision to tell Rhaenyra The Song of Ice and Fire prophecy and names her the next Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.

House of the Dragon – Rhaenyra Targaryen’s dragon Syrax explained

Even upon the humiliation of being in a gruesome labor while her husband Prince Daemon (Matt Smith) schemed and plotted, consigned to the birthing bed and “woman’s duties” that she never wished to define her, Rhaenyra kept her composure. She accepted the crown’s duties as being about more than only personal gratification. "House of the Dragon" depicts the Dance of the Dragons, a civil war between the Targaryens that cost them their dragons and, ultimately, led to their downfall.

Family

house of the dragon rhaenyra

We also know that Syrax and Rhaenyra loved to fly together and would often go on trips around King’s Landing together, sometimes in the company of her uncle Daemon Targaryen. In the TV series, Rhaenya often invited her friend, Alicent Hightower, to fly on Syrax, but the young girl was too afraid to ride on a dragon. Rhaenyra’s eldest son, Jacaerys, suggested the Blacks look for more dragonriders to gain an edge.

He is now King of the Narrow Sea, having conquered all but two of the islands. He's not here to taunt Viserys (Paddy Considine), however, but to bend the knee. All of this led to Rhaenyra being massively unpopular, and when she was accused of killing Helaena Targaryen, an uprising broke out. The commoners stormed the Dragon Pit and killed several of the Targaryen dragons.

Daemon, Viserys I, and Aegon are the children of Prince Baelon Targaryen and Princess Alyssa Targaryen, siblings who married each other. The battle for succession eventually evolves into a Targaryen civil war with Rhaenyra and her half-brother Aegon fighting for the Iron Throne. We’ve even had a look at where the Game of Thrones cast is now. Syrax died fighting the common folk of King’s Landing during the storming of the Dragonpit. While Syrax wasn’t housed at the Dragonpit during the uprising, Rhaenyra’s son Joffrey flew his mother’s dragon to the pit in the hopes of saving his own mount Tyraxes.

Cruel and driven partially mad by the pain of his injuries, Aegon cruelly had Rhaenyra fed to his dragon Sunfyre and forced her son Aegon to watch the horror show. After her death, Aegon declared that Rhaenyra should never be referred to as a queen and that she had always only been a princess. When Rhaenyra finds out that Viserys is dead and she’s been ousted from the throne, the war is effectively on.

Laena Velaryon is dead and the Targaryen and Velaryon clans have assembled at Driftmark for a burial at sea. As Vaemond (Wil Johnson) intones the burial rites, Daemon (Matt Smith) lets loose with a devilish giggle that unnerves the crowd. “She’s met with very similar challenges that Daenerys is also brought with, in not being viable in her claim to the throne and having other people constantly be like, “You’re not legitimate,” Milly told TVLine.

The show itself is set to last four seasons so the final episode of season 2 likely won’t show the conclusion of The Dance of the Dragons. We’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out which Targaryen faction claims the Iron Throne. As the first season draws to a close, the relationship between Rhaenyra and Alicent deteriorates and becomes volatile. Simultaneously, Viserys’ brother Daemon comes into the picture and allies with Rhaenyra’s cause. When Viserys dies at the end of the first season, Westeros is thrown into chaos. Rhaenyra gets crowned Queen in Dragonstone, while Alicent has her son Aegon crowned in King’s Landing.

Later, meeting with Rhaenyra, Corlys and Rhaenys announce their alliance with the Blacks. And since Corlys' years at sea cinched him control of the Stepstones, his dominion over the Narrow Sea means they may be able to cut off sea travel and trade to King's Landing. Houses Stark, Baratheon, and Arryn took an oath to support Rhaenyra's claim to the throne when Viserys first declared it, but both Otto and Corlys remind her that oaths are easy to break.

Carnival Panorama, renowned for its seven-day sailings, is ushering in a new era of cruising by introducing alternating six- and eight-day itineraries. Departing on both Saturdays and Sundays, these journeys will be available from spring 2025 through to spring 2026. The six-day itineraries will transport passengers to the enchanting locales of Ensenada and the mesmerizing Cabo San Lucas, offering two full days to explore this Mexican gem.

Cruise Planning at this Port

If you have to travel into Long Beach from a different part of Californiaor any of the nearby states, you could certainly save yourself some money bydriving in and parking instead of flying in to Long Beach or LA. Long Beach, California is known by some for its edgy punk and skate culture (made famous by the band Sublime in the '90s), but as a growing cruise port, it's exceedingly family friendly. Located just over 20 miles from LAX, Long Beach has a highly diverse yet welcoming small-town feel that flies under the radar of most tourists and Angelenos.

Hotel Maya by Doubletree is one of the more popular hotel options for thecruise terminal and for those visiting the Queen Mary. It’s uniquely designedbuilding and tropical landscaping are ideal for beginning your vacation beforeyou even set foot on the cruise ship. If you have the time, the hotel has beachaccess and other amenities like kayak rentals. Because the parking garage is part of the cruise terminal, it’s under the same security umbrella as everything else. In addition to the overall terminal security, the sheer volume of activity and the near-constant presence of people make it difficult to go around breaking into cars there.

Carnival Cruise Line is offering travellers an enticing array of new deployment options from the picturesque shores of Long Beach, California. Future sailings are now officially open for sale, with exciting itineraries aboard Carnival Panorama, Carnival Radiance, and the soon-to-debut Carnival Firenze. It’s not all action, though, because relaxation options like Cloud 9 Spa™ and Serenity Adult-Only Retreat™ are on the menu. Guests may hand off checked bags to porters within the passenger drop-off zone or alongside the parking garage. The Long Beach Cruise Terminal does not provide wheelchairs for passenger use.

However, it can still be helpful to know what to expect in regard to parking, hotels, and the surrounding area. Just down the road (your probably passed it) from the cruise terminal is the Queen Mary. History and military enthusiasts alike will enjoy visiting this museum just a few miles away from the port in San Pedro.

The ship’s unique architectural design beautifully mirrors its namesake, offering travellers a slice of Italy in the heart of the Pacific. Carnival also offers cruise line transfer shuttles from Long Beach Airport for passengers arriving by air on the same day of cruise departure. Travelers must pre-book transportation for one-way or round-trip services. Passengers on cruises departing from Long Beach Cruise Terminal predominantly fly into LAX, though Long Beach Airport (LGB) and John Wayne Airport (SNA) are also viable options. Cruise lines offer shuttle service from LAX and LGB, while passengers arriving at SNA will need to take a taxi or rent a car. Give them a call to ask about booking a cruise package to get a deal on parking.

A Carnival cruise features day and nighttime entertainment like stage shows, musical performances, deck parties, casinos and more. Guests enjoy this unique experience against the backdrop of some of the world’s most beautiful seaports. If your group likes to sail a little closer to the waves — or just in a calm location at the aft of the ship — choose a Family Harbor Cove Balcony stateroom.

Day 4: Fun Day at Sea

You’re paying for the parking space, but you’re also paying for extra services like that. We designed Carnival Panorama balcony staterooms for maximum sea breeze and the most stunning views, and this stateroom features a balcony that's even wider than our standard balcony. Enjoy the extra outdoor space, along with all the standard Carnival stateroom amenities. That said, a shortage of parking spaces doesn’t appear to be a commonproblem. The parking structure is huge, after all, and most of the passengerson cruises will have flown in from other parts of the country, and won’t have acar to park.

In fact, a quick google search will reveal nocomplaints at all about the security there. There is no difference in price based on what level you park in or if you need a handicap spot. That’s a difficult comparison since those costs vary depending on how far from the terminal you live and the time of day that you’re using the service. For most people, that means they’ll be flying into LAX or the Long Beach Airport and taking a shuttle out to the cruise terminal. Others, though, especially people who live in the area, will be driving themselves.

Cruises that depart from Long Beach travel to destinations all over the world, including the Mexican Riviera, Alaska, and Hawaii. There is no off-site parking readily available, unless you arrive a day or so before your trip and stay at a hotel that provides parking for cruise passengers. Any oversized vehicles will be charged per space ($17) that their vehicle takes up. Handicap parking is also available, provided you have a valid permit. Again, if you’re travelling alone, this isn’t that bad, as you will only be paying about $47-$60 roundtrip. You’d be looking at paying roughly $188-$240 round trip, just for shuttle service.

More than 300 cruises a year sail from the Long Beach cruise port, mostly reaching destinations in the Mexico Riviera like Ensenada, Puerto Vallarta, and Cabo. If you’re driving in from the north, you’ll most likely be coming in onInterstate 405. If that’s the case, you’ll stay on I-405 until you hit I-710;you’ll want to turn south on I-710 and then take Exit 1A onto South HarborScenic Drive, which will take you right to the parking structure. The terminal is located at the end of Harbor Scenic Drive, on the easternside of the Port.

From there, continue on to Queen’s Highway, and then on to Windsor Way. From Windsor Way you can access the parking structure or continue on to loop around the parking structure to the drop off zone at the terminal. As with any form of long-distance travel, figuring out what to do with your car while you’re on a cruise can be one of the most challenging and frustrating aspects of planning your trip. Some people choose to have someone drive them to the terminal and pick them up, and some will choose to use services like Uber and Lyft. The Firenze will offer four-day cruises, which visit Catalina Island and Ensenada as well as five-day Mexican Riviera treks calling in Cabo and Ensenada beginning in spring of 2025 through the fall. The Firenze will join the company’s fleet in May 2024 as its second ship showcasing the Carnival Fun Italian Style experiences, including Italian-themed restaurants, bars and entertainment.

The lack of reservations makes some people nervous, but there are noreports of anyone having an issue finding available parking. The only potentialproblem would be if you come in an RV, which may be too tall to fit inside thegarage. There are several hotels at the terminal providing convenient lodging forcruise passengers. If you’re driving in from the south, you’ll most likely be on Interstate 5.It’ll be a little faster if you take exit 85A to get on CA-73 North and takethat highway all the way in to town. You’ll then take exit 18A to get on 405North, followed by exit 32B to get on 710 South, and then exit 1A on to HarborScenic Drive. If you’re thinking of cruising, there’s a very good chance you’re considering a Carnival cruise.

You might be sailing across the ocean, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a great night “on the town” on board Carnival Legend. The cruise ship offers over half a dozen great bars, each with its own unique atmosphere. RedFrog Pub™ takes its inspiration from the Caribbean, with a long drinks menu of tropical cocktails and craft beers. Life jackets are used in cases of emergency only (not at the ship pools). Lifejackets are located within passenger/crew cabins (in the closet).

For a cruise vacation that’s sure to go down in your history books, turn to Carnival Legend. And over time, this ship has become even more deserving of its nameplate. No roster of great bars is complete without a Sports Bar, so of course there’s a cool spot to drink and watch sports across countless big screens on Carnival Legend. Truffles’ doors were closed so here’s a Carnival photo of the dining room.

The Legend is one of four Spirit-class ships currently sailing with Carnival. Spirit-class ships are PANEX ships, which means they were designed to be able to travel through the Panama Canal locks. Their smaller size makes them able to visit ports larger ships can't.

Lastly, the grand suite is the biggest and best, with a large bathroom, dressing area with a vanity, lots of lounge space, a desk, balcony with multiple forms of seating and more. If you book an interior stateroom, expect tight quarters, but enough room for two (comfortably). If you book an interior stateroom with an obstructed-view window, you’ll get some added benefits, such as that obstructed window that does at least allow for some natural light, and extra lounging space with a sofa. Over the years, the ship has undergone a variety of refurbishments. In 2011, the ship received the Serenity adults-only area that’s pretty standard on Carnival ships today.

Each of the cabins has a safe (located in the closet) with approx dimensions (inches/centimeters) – width (10/25), height (9/23) and depth (8/20). It is advisable not to use a valid credit card (or driver’s license), but an old expired card (or some rewards card) instead. Inside cabins with windows are category 4K – with obstructed view, and feature sliding glass doors (French Doors).

In August 2014, she departed Tampa and made her way through the Panama Canal to reposition to Australia. From 2014 to 2019, Carnival Legend sailed seasonally from Sydney on 8-day/12-day cruises to the Pacific Islands from September to April[9] and cruised around Alaska from Seattle in the summer seasons. Coming in at 963 ft long and 106 ft wide, it's roughly the length of 2.7 football fields, as wide as 2 tractor trailers, and the same height as a 12-story building. Camp Ocean is centered on a 2,400-square-foot (223-square-meter) enclosed play area on Deck 5, away from adult activities.

If you’re looking to discover new legends, flip directly to the RedFrog Pub, featuring not only a mythical mascot, but actual drinks — plus Caribbean atmosphere by the gallon. Your heroic journey down the Green Thunder waterslide is a saga you’ll recount for ages. And Bonsai Sushi proves that you needn’t teach a man to fish for him to enjoy delicacies from the sea. There’s a reason why Carnival is a favorite brand for families.

Any time you're in your room, you're just steps away from your own personal outdoor oasis, featuring the sort of sea view you can also feel. When debuted in August 2002, Carnival Legend was the first-ever "Fun Ship" with an onboard wedding chapel and alternative options for dining. Romantic couples and groups of grown-up friends cruising together all love to spend some quiet time at the Serenity Adult Only Retreat™. Parents taking a family cruise might send the little ones off for their own, supervised fun and spend an hour or two at the retreat as well. It’s the perfect place for peace and quiet, perhaps with a cool drink and a good book, along with great company. As I kept walking towards the front of the ship, I knew the casino had to show up eventually. Here’s the lower level of Truffles (you can see the upper level in the photo).

There's lots to do to keep busy during the day on Carnival Legend, from multiple trivia sessions to dance classes, bingo (for an extra fee), art seminars and auctions and various retail events when the ship is at sea. Other activities might include beanbag or ring toss competitions, dodge ball tournaments and free-throw challenges. So what can you do when you’re aboard Carnival Legend when you’re not drinking and eating your way through the ship? If you’re considering taking an upcoming cruise on Carnival Legend, here’s everything you need to know. With a name like “Legend,” you do admittedly expect something pretty legendary. While Carnival Legend may not be quite the ship it once was, as it’s on the older side and hasn’t received a major overhaul in a while, you can still see why the ship garnered the name it did when it was floated out in 2001. In 2021 (July-August) the ship entered drydock at Chantier Naval de Marseille (Marseille France) for regular maintenance and hull repainting (colors change). The Carnival ship Legend is of the company's Spirit-class liners, with sisterships the fleetmates Miracle, Pride, Spirit, and also Costa Atlantica and Costa Mediterranea.

All about the Carnival Legend

You can also order drinks in the Serenity adults-only outdoor space. Well, given the age of the ship, don’t expect anything wildly spectacular. Things are small, furnishings are subpar, and there’s a lot of décor that’s stuck in a bygone era. Australian cruisers will find Australian power outlets in cabins, and poker machines (slot machines) in the casino. (deck 3) The Holmes Library & Internet Cafe (17-seat, 24-hour venue) and the Wedding Chapel (30-seat venue) were replaced with a new video arcade The Warehouse. In February-March 2018, Carnival Legend was homeported in Melbourne Australia.

Dining

Enjoy a host of amenities, including first-run movies on TV and sleep like a baby on special comfy beds. Culinary options include twin main dining rooms, both on two levels, where you can savor superb international cuisine, including spa fare and delicious vegetarian selections. A kids menu offers such favorites as chicken nuggets, mac-n-cheese, spaghetti and meatballs, plus desserts that are sure to put a smile on their faces.

Smack in the middle of the ship on Deck 2 is the soaring Lobby. Sometimes called an Atrium, this is also the deck where on most occasions, especially Embarkation Day, passengers enter the ship. The Main Deck is almost all staterooms, like the four decks above it. However,  all the way at the bow (the front of the ship) is where you’ll find the Follies Main Show Lounge. Aside from the pools shown above, the Lido Deck has a lot of other venues and activities.

Balcony (8B)

The Legend can hold 2,124 based on double occupancy (two people per room) and more when you take into account 3rd and 4th passengers. When you compare the total tonnage of the ship to the number of passengers, the Legend has a space ratio of 42. Depending on the ship, this number can range from 30 to 52 (with a bigger number meaning more space per person) so this ship's space-to-person ratio is about average. The tiered gym, located next to the spa, features the latest cardio equipment, including a top range of treadmills and stair climbers, as well as stationary bicycles and free weights. A great feature of the gym is the chill-out hot tub or whirlpool (often called a spa bath by Australians) in the middle of the room, to ease those aching limbs post workout. Carnival Legend's main sun deck spaces are on Decks 9 and 10, right next to or right above the Avalon pool.

There’s even a wall-size group photo of the greatest Hollywood superstar legends. Carnival Legend is the third ship built in the Carnival Spirit Class, launched in 2002. It’s now one of the smaller ships in the fleet with only 2,124 passengers.

But the thing to see here is truly the view that your balcony affords you. A Vista Suite features a wraparound balcony that provides wide, stunning views when you’re outside, and a uniquely panoramic inside view thanks to a wall of windows that brings more of that outside inside. Extended Balcony staterooms feature a larger balcony with more outdoor lounge-around room, more open-air kick-back space… and back inside the room itself, all the comfort you expect with a great view and plenty of sunlight.

Situated on the top deck, it serves prime aged beef and lobster dishes. This ship, which pays tribute to some of the most enduring legends throughout the ages, still features classic Carnival Legend favorites. Take a dip in the Camelot and Avalon pools, wish for fortune at Club Merlin Casino, and taste something savory at Truffles Restaurant. There’s more than one way to dine at Lido Deck’s Unicorn Café, including handmade faves at Guy’s Burger Joint™ and fresh taco-burrito goodness at BlueIguana Cantina™. And of course there’s our signature steakhouse, Nouveau Restaurant, where the multi-course meal is no myth. A cruise to Hawaii, Alaska, Europe or the Caribbean is packed with unforgettable days exploring ports across the globe, but your time on board promises to be just as memorable.

Find out which fun ingredients — staterooms, dining, activities — go into each deck. Nothing beats relaxing by a pool with a nice drink in hand as you feel the fresh sea breeze pass by you. The problem is that with thousands of people on a ship, there's not always room. If you want to spend all day in a pool, a cruise might not be the right choice.

You’ll also find adult-geared daily activities taking place around the ship, especially on sea days, ranging from classes to competitions. In the ocean view staterooms, you’ll find more space and lounging areas, plus a rectangular window on the far side of the cabin. On the entertainment side, Carnival Legend features Playlist Production music shows (think Motown and Epic Rock shows), as well as family entertainment that includes Seuss at Sea and Hasbro, the Game Show. The new concept "Long Lunch at Sea" takes place in the Nouveau on sea days.
